The Birman name is of German-Jewish heritage. Most of my family (Birman side/Dad's family) is in Minnesota, Ohio, and Georgia. I am also half Canadian (Mom's side) hailing from the Windsor Ontario area. My parents lived in Arizona where I was raised. They are now deceased and I am an only child.
After my Dad died in 2008, I had 4 deaths in my family in 2012, including my Mom and my Grandma (Mom's mom), an aunt (Mom's sister), and an uncle (Dad's brother). Since that time there have been additional deaths to other family such as aunts and uncles. These tragic events have been devastating to me both personally and professionally, and have taken some time in rebuilding.
